Construction of the Second Power Line of 500 KV of North-South Transit of Kazakhstan

Realization period 2005 - 2008 Project’s geography Almatinskaya area, Zhambylskaya area, Pavlodarskaya area. Client “KEGOC” JSC General description of the project Importance of the project was to provide enough energy for south parts of Kazakhstan to retrieve it from “powerdefficiency” status by increasing power transmission capacity to 7-7,5 bln Kvt-h a year from North to South part of the country. Besides, project’s significance extends on ensuring reliability and safety of Kazakhstan national power line as well as making power association relation with Russian Federation and nearby countries of central Asia effective. Project realization was carried out in accordance with Development Program of RoK power industry till 2030 17th of September, 2008, the second transit North-South of Kazakhstan was launched with the participation of RoK President Nursultan Nazarbayev on “Ekibastuzskaya” SS-1150kV. Description of “Promstroy-Energo” scope of works During the project realization “Promstroy-Energo” completed expansion of 1st turn “UKGRES” SS-500kV in 2006. Performed works included:
Two years later in 2008 “turnkey” construction of 1st and 2nd turns of “Shu” SS-500kV was completed in Zhambylskaya area, Kazakhstan The scope of work included:
Equipment used: “AREVA” company’s 200kV and 500kV SF6 circuit breakers, “AREVA” company’s 200kV and 500kV triple-pole disconnectors (switches), “ABB” company’s current and voltage transformers, 500kV excess voltage suppressors. Here for the first time in CIS monolithic fire-fighting partitions of power equipment were installed. A year later in 2009 “Promstroy-Energo” completed expansion of “Ekibastuzskaya” SS-1150kV project in Pavlodarskaya area, also reconstruction works on relay protection means and automation were also carried out on this substation.
