General description of the project

The project became not only one of the largest projects in a transport area of Kazakhstan but also one of the economic strategically important projects of a country in general. There are several international transport routes included in Euroasian land based corridor going through Kazakhstan railway roads. One of which is Chinese-Kazakhstan transport corridor. Therefore, stage-by-stage development and expansion of infrastructure of these corridors creates conditions for increase of competitive ability level of Kazakhstan whole transport complex within the Euroasian network of international transport routes.

In general, the project aimed to resolve the following number of strategic issues:

Increase of a country’s export potential; creation of the second transit land based message in a Europe-Asia direction on Republic of Kazakhstan territory; significant decrease of distances for  export-imported louds transport.

“Korgas-Zhetygen” line allows for significant distance reduction on 550km from China to North parts of Kazakhstan and Central Asia. Area of construction of a new railway road includes Iliyskiy, Talgraskiy, Enbekshikazakhskiy and Uigirskiy regoins of Almatinskaya area. The total length of a construction site comes to 329 km 102 km of which comes to marshy, wet and flooded by local river flood plain territories. 

Description of “Promstroy-Energo” scope of works

The task for “Promstroy-Energo” was to construct external power supply facilities for new railway road “Korgas-Zhetygen” which became the second railway junction between Kazakhstan and China.

The scope of “Promstroy-Energo” works is a site between “Zhetygen” station and “Kerimagash” passing place:

  • Construction of OHTL-10kV AB (autoblocking) and lateral power supply (LEPS) of a total length of 480km
  • Construction of existing OHTL-10kV of a total length of 170km
  • Energy power supply and lighting of 10 stations and passing places  and also 11 plain tracks etc
  • Assembling of transformer SS-10/0,4kV for AB and lateral power supply in a number of 5 sets
  • Assembling of diesel-generator installations in a number of 6 sets
